ERIC Works with House Republican Members to Address Health Care Cost & Quality Crisis

Washington, DC – The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC) is working with the Healthy Future Task Force Affordability Subcommittee Members to identify policy solutions to make health care more affordable for workers and their families. The following statement supports ERIC’s comments to the Subcommittee and should be attributed to James Gelfand, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs for ERIC.

“The need for affordable, quality health care has never been more urgent. ERIC is dedicated to working with lawmakers to implement real-world solutions to improve health care access, affordability, quality, transparency, and safety for all Americans.

Our approach to the health care pricing crisis includes common-sense solutions that can be easily implemented, many of which are already well-known to lawmakers. In fact, some of the solutions like expanding access to telehealth, improving transparency in the health care system, and making critical changes to consumer-directed health plans and accounts, are ready for immediate consideration by Congress. Lawmakers should quickly move to draft or approve this legislation to reduce health care costs and administrative burdens on both employees and plan sponsors.

The time to act is now. For too long hard-working Americans have been forced to navigate a confusing and costly health care system, while increasing health care costs have suppressed wages and workers’ take-home pay. ERIC stands ready to work with Congress to lower costs and improve the quality of care for all Americans.”
