Electronic Disclosure is a Necessary Tool for Benefit Plan Sponsors

For Immediate Release

Washington, DC – The following statement should be attributed to Will Hansen, Senior Vice President of Retirement and Compensation Policy, The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC):

“The ERISA Industry Committee is pleased the Trump Administration recognized the need to modernize how employers can send required disclosures and notices to plan recipients in its most recent Executive Order.

ERIC advocates on behalf of large employer plan sponsors; making electronic delivery the standard would give them the flexibility to enhance the disclosures to include interactive features that could help participants understand the materials, as well as allow for inclusion of other relevant information. Additionally, electronic disclosure would reduce costs to both the plan sponsor and the plan participants.

ERIC will continue to provide the Administration guidance on this very important issue.”
