Washington, DC – The following statement is in response to the Department of Labor releasing its final rule on Electronic Disclosure.
“The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC) is pleased the Department of Labor recognizes the significant advantages electronic disclosure provides for participants, as well as for plan sponsors and administrators and has finalized its rule on default electronic disclosure. The necessity of this rule is highlighted by the current pandemic, which emphasizes the need for electronic delivery options for times when paper delivery is unsafe or unavailable,” said Aliya Robinson, Senior Vice President of Retirement and Compensation, ERIC. “ERIC is, however, disappointed the final rule does not expand default electronic disclosure to health and welfare plans. We will continue to work with the Department to expand the rule to include these plans.”
